I live in LA

I'm always amazed at peoples reactions when I tell them I live in Los Angeles. It doesn't matter who it is. A lot of the reactions are the same everytime. I don't want to say I get looked at negatively, but I get the common question usually, "Why would you want to live in LA?" I think LA in general tends to carry a negative stereotype about it, which to some degree I can understand with how it is defined in the media. But, I mean give me a flipping break. Not everyone in LA is how the media portrays them. And what ends up happening is I feel like I end up defending myself to people I don't even know. People I may never see again. It's just stupid that I feel I have to do that. I mean there are stereotypes everywhere. I stereotype people and places as well. But I guess when you get the same negative reaction over and over it can get kind of irritating. I admit, you have to be a certain type of person to live in LA. I've never been able to truly define what type of person that is. But the thing I know is that I am that type of person. LA is my kind of place. It's totally different from where I grew up and even where I went to college. To me, that is why I love this place. It seems to be the perfect place for me and the age I'm at right now. So, one time I am just hoping that when I tell somebody that I live in LA that for once they will respond with, "Wow, LA!! That's pretty cool!" YEAH RIGHT! :)
